With my team at C&G Partners, we’ve worked with The Rockefeller University, a world-renowned biomedical research university located in New York City, on dozens of projects. The Rockefeller University wanted to celebrate the opening of its new, two-acre River Campus that spans four blocks of the east river through a series of opening events. We developed a branded event system that spanned printed materials, environmental graphics, digital signage and communications.
We began by developing the event name "Dedication to Discovery," and logo consisting of a block-like structure inspired by the building itself and the idea of how scientific discovery involves modularity.
The logo design allowed for an easy configuration into a variety of formats across many event assets that included printed materials such as the dinner program and opening day program and map, as well as digital materials such as motion graphics to take over the digital signage monitors.
The branded campus takeover also included environmental graphics for both celebratory "placemaking" purposes, as well as wayfinding to locate each building and activity. A system of Mondrian-like grids was used to expand the event branding look and feel. While the color palette, consisting of a bright blue and green, represented the river, sky, and greenery on the bright May afternoon while popping against the palette of the campus itself.
